The Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre turns 30 this week.

Although the actual birthday is on October 18, Auckland Council, which owns the facility, has decided to hold off on celebrations until February due to pressures caused by the ups and downs of Covid-19 restrictions.

It is thought that the centre is the first gym and pool built in the area.
